What is HID DigitalPersona?

The HID DigitalPersona multi-factor authentication software offers a new way to provide authentication services to users. Whereas traditional 2FA/MFA solutions are stuck on “what you have/what you know”, DigitalPersona leverages an array of authentication methods to access public and corporate network resources. Enterprise users can gain access to their cloud applications, such as Microsoft 365, VPNs, corporate networks, Windows desktops, and Citrix applications . Consumers can confirm their identity and authenticate transactions.

Balancing security and usability, HID DigitalPersona boasts one of the widest arrays of authentication factors in the industry. This includes one-time passwords, mobile-based push, smartcards, security keys, risk- and context-based methods, and biometrics, such as fingerprint, face, and behavioral keystroke.

We used it for biometric authentication scanning for the employees in our company. We also installed a multi-factor authentication functionality for an extra layer of our client-side security. The fingerprint scanning is a great tool as it has quick response time as well as the combination of access pin gives an extra layer of safety inside office.
  • Quick response time in biometric scanning verification of employees compared to its competitors.
  • Gives easy access to mark attendance in office without logging into the system separately.
  • Personal Mobiles and laptops can be easily linked with the software for multi-factor authentication.
  • Making changes on the scanning screen hardware. If its raining and your hands are wet while coming to office, it doesn't scan correctly.
  • Changing devices for multi-factor feels like a task as we have to contact the administrator for any new device changes.
Good for offices which have large workforce and needs extra layer of security. Good for tracking employee attendance coming to the office or ODC rooms.

They provide one of the best Fingerprint Scanner. We can integrate our application and provide a secure sign-on to the application. This is a secure application that has high availability and is fully trustable. We had a wonderful experience after their biometric integration. They have added wonderful value to the organization.
  • Biometric Integration.
  • High Trustable application.
  • Ease of use.
  • Highly priced.
  • Less training modules.
  • No upgrade on there old system.
They are providing a wonderful experience in their application, which provides trustable Biometric integration. We can provide a secure gateway to enter our application using their services. If we ignore the high price of the application, they can be considered by any application that is working in any finance-related application.

Our personnel required a fast way to access their computers. started to use Card readers and HID DigitalPersona. It was simple to connect their ID cards to the program, with a one-time setup for each user. After that, they are logged in with a simple scan. For the first-time login of the day, MFA takes the form of a four-digit number. After signing in, a card scan swiftly takes them to the desktop.
  • Quick authentication
  • Multi-factor authentication
  • Recovery of license takes a bit more time than it has to.
I would not suggest this to any firm that has a large number of bespoke apps. It is compatible with the majority of simple programs and web login sites. However, special programs need additional settings from their creators and are often not supported.

Our users login to PC and online apps using fingerprint readers that are integrated with AD (password manager).
  • SSO
  • User friendliness
  • Almost no upgrades necessary
  • It has installation requirements on domain controllers.
  • Assignment and removal of software licenses are laborious processes.
It is suitable for PCs with several uses, but not as useful for PCs used exclusively. It would only be a premium good.

HID DigitalPersona (formerly Crossmatch) is being used by many teams across the organization, however, not across the whole organization for now. HID DigitalPersona helps us with simplifying multiple logins and application logins which makes it easier for teams to manage logins on their devices with higher efficiency and speed.
  • Simple and easy to setup
  • Integrates with windows login on any computer and laptop
  • Easier to manage and administrate for the admins
  • Not so easy and useful to integrate with third party applications
HID DigitalPersona is highly suited for integrated Windows login; it makes it easier to manage and administrate. HID DigitalPersona is not very useful for integrating with third-party applications, but it makes the windows login integration easier and more convenient for everyone who is working on the device for work.

We are currently using Digital Persona for MFA with the biometric readers. This solution has changed how we do password resets. This has drastically reduced the time it takes for us to complete these password resets and has also allowed us to be more secured with our network and applications logons. This solution has also provided us with some insight into how our users work and lets us know that our users were not afraid of change. They were also able to adapt to this new solution easier than we thought. Due to the application being well programmed, the rollout of this product went smooth as well.
  • Updates
  • Release version
  • Tehcnology
  • MFA
  • Account representative contact. We would like to hear more from our vendor.
  • Communication on new releases.
  • Communication on product upgrades.
  • New offers.
Digital Persona is well suited for our environment. With the utilization of the password manager and the biometric readers, our users feel more at ease knowing that their passwords are more secure than ever. By using the biometric readers for MFA purposes, our users are engaged with our systems more and creating more complex passwords. The only time we have seen this solution not be well suited in our environment for the way we utilize it is when a user does not want to provide their fingerprint for their security.

HID Digital Persona is being used by all staff at our current organization. We deploy password templates to our users for several of our applications and have biometric fingerprint readers deployed to all staff. Overall, I would say that the password manager and fingerprint readers work really well. Most issues with the fingerprint readers are resolved by cleaning the lens on the top of the reader. One annoyance we have with the Digital Persona application is the icon that is displayed above the password field routinely covers other buttons up, making it difficult to click without trying to move the icon or finding a tiny space to click the correct button.
  • Password management works really well.
  • Fingerprint readers rarely have issues.
  • Deploying templates for particular applications is fast and easy.
  • Technical support's answer to all issues seems to be to upgrade.
  • Digital Persona's icon covers other toolbars and icons.
If you need a biometric reader and a password manager in several applications with templates, this works well. If you are needing to use this in Chrome, the extension does not work so well. Most of our issues have come up with the Chrome extension and this can be cumbersome to keep updated, particularly in a provisioned environment.

We use it primarily in our Public Safety departments for two-factor authentication. This allows us to provide the necessary security for these critical departments. It also allows us to comply with audit requirements as needed by different agencies. The hardware and software solution is an important part of our Cyber Security posture.
  • Enrollment of fingerprints is easy.
  • Software install and deployment is relatively painless.
  • False positives are low.
  • The readers are constructed well.
  • Integration with third party applications.
The solution is solid. However, there are "modern" 2FA solutions that are more nimble than Crossmatch. As an example, most users would prefer to have a push notification sent to a smartphone for second-factor authentication. We have tested Cisco DUO and find this solution to be more attractive from a usability perspective. It allows for two-factor authentication without having to rely on a physically connected biometric reader.

We made the decision to purchase the solution after a close evaluation of this product. We are currently using the biometric devices for network authentication and to allow users to login to their applications/websites using their fingerprint scanning device. It allows the users to login and authenticate without having to type their user name and password. It's also used as a password manager tool in the environment. The software manager is very intuitive and user friendly. Enrolling the fingerprints is a very easy process.
  • Network/Windows login authentication
  • Password Management
  • The Implementation process needs improvement. Working with an engineer that is not familiar with the network environment can cause some issues and delays.
  • Technical support doesn't have all the answers and can take a long time to get back to you on open tickets.
In the business world, it's a very useful tool to allow users to manage their passwords more efficiently. I wouldn't recommend this to any organization with lots of custom applications. It works well with most basic applications and web login sites. But custom applications require additional configuration from their developers and most are not supported.

Solid SSO Solution

DigitalPersona is being used across the entire organization for SSO to third-party apps.
  • Quick and easy authentication.
  • Straightforward Active Directory integration
  • Silent solution.
  • Upgrading or attempting to contact sales. We are trying to upgrade now and are still not in contact with anyone after two weeks of pings.
  • User forums and support knowledge bases. The self-support is lacking.
  • DigitalPersona only works with Microsoft IE in our environment. We are increasingly moving away from IE and using Chrome or Firefox due to the number of issues we experience with IE. DigitalPersona should work with all major browsers.
We use DigitalPersona for company end-users. We do not use it for customer authentication, as they are not tied to Active Directory.

We just have one department using it for their specialized software, to verify that it is them and to validate each step of a process.
  • Logs into Windows desktop.
  • Install was slick.
  • Support during install was excellent.
  • After the original appointment, we kind of stopped hearing from them. They have said that they just got acquired.
For us, it is well suited to allow the user to authenticate themselves without having to type their password. They have an application that could require up to 20 authentications during one process, so it saves time.

Altus at last !

Digital Persona Altus is a relatively new product that was just called digital persona pro. It is being used in our company to allow our users to unlock a remote app session via their finger print. This has saved used tons of hours from having to sign in directly. We also have a large number of HR and transportation users who utilize this application to keep track of their website passwords. These departments deal with tons of third party websites that each require a separate password in order log in. Very recently we started using Digital Persona Kiosk as well. We are using it for our software based DVR. This DVR is basically a single computer that any non-technical employee can go up to and either type in their account or use their fingerprint and it will give them a controlled "operator" account to view the camera system. Overall we've seen better security and more usability than we originally expected.
  • Password randomization, to remove password all together from day to day operations.
  • Hardware support, works with every Dell we've ever purchased.
  • Security control, only specific people are allowed to enroll fingerprints for the rest of the users.
  • Kiosk support, a singular controlled account that can be logged into with any user's credentials.
  • Windows 10 support for Windows Hello For Business
  • Better support for password management. You need to be able to store a user's "saved" password somewhere other than their computer. In case the machine dies there is a backup of their passwords somewhere.
  • Better OTP, the current setup requires tons of work and only really works internally.
  • Remote enrollment, allow enrollment of credentials outside of the network and "drop them" into a user's account when they are back on site.
  • Third party password changes, if you change your password through a web server while you are off site (instead of on your computer), the password and the fingerprint scanners are out of sync and the user has to change their password again in order for it to start working again.
Altus is best suited for a full enterprise environment. It allows us to seamlessly integrate fingerprint scans into day to day interactions. However, it really isn't that great for small environments. If you are only going to use it on 5-10 people there are much simpler products available.

It is used by the whole organization. It takes the pain away from typing in your passwords every day for different websites and applications.
  • Login speed
  • Secure
  • Sometimes it does not register fingerprints
  • Templates get corrupt occasionally
It is well suited when logging on to workstations that are automatically locked after some inactivity. It takes the pain away from retyping your passwords at every instance.

It is also safer than writing down your password somewhere which might be a security risk.

In today's world of so many passwords to remember, logging in with your fingerprints comes handy.

All users authenticate to Windows using biometric fingerprint readers. We also use password manager through the Altus console to authenticate to 3rd party websites. We have over 120 3rd party logins that we manage, so this solution saves us time logging in to 3rd party websites and applications, and also gives us a secure way to store passwords.
  • Windows authentication
  • Password management
  • multifactor authentication
  • We have issues with fingerprint misreads with our users who do not have as defined of a fingerprint
  • We also have issues with the Agent not loading in Internet Explorer consistently on some workstations.
When it works properly, I would recommend to anyone. The reason I'm rating a 6 is we have some users who don't like the solution at all because of the issues I described previously.

At the moment, we are using DigitalPersona for OTP for remote access. We will be using it for user authentication next year as well.
  • Super easy to manage
  • Intuitive Admin interface
  • Great support!
  • Had to reach out to sales team several times for a solution to a problem. In the end it required expensive custom coding.
Having tested most of the Biometric authentication products out there, DigitalPersona is hands down the best.
